Author Guidelines

Authors who intend to submit manuscripts to Vocational: Journal of Educational Technology are required to carefully follow these Author Guidelines. Compliance ensures academic quality, transparency, ethical integrity, and international publication standards.


1. General Information

Manuscripts submitted to Vocational: Journal of Educational Technology must be:

  • Original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere
  • Free from plagiarism and unethical practices

Submissions must align with the journal’s aims and scope, including but not limited to:

1. Educational technology and digital learning innovations
2. Vocational education and training (VET)
3. Artificial intelligence in education (AIED)
4. Mobile learning and e-learning systems
5. Learning management systems (LMS) and instructional design
6. Gamification and game-based learning
7. Computational thinking and STEM/STEAM education
8. Technology integration in teaching and learning

11. Assessment and evaluation in technology-enhanced learning
12. Human-computer interaction in education
13. Data analytics and learning analytics
14. Emerging technologies in education (e.g., AR/VR, IoT, blockchain)

All manuscripts must be written in clear academic English.
Submissions are accepted only through the online journal system.


2. Manuscript Preparation and Structure

A complete manuscript must follow this structure:


2.1 Title Page

  • Article title (concise, specific, and informative)
  • Full names of authors (without academic titles)
  • Institutional affiliations (department, institution, country)
  • Corresponding author’s email address
  • ORCID ID (recommended)

2.2 Abstract and Keywords

  • Length: 150–250 words
  • Written in English
  • Must include:
    • Background
    • Objectives
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion
  • Provide 3–5 keywords

2.3 Introduction

  • Background and research context
  • Identification of research gaps
  • Significance of the study
  • Clear research objectives

2.4 Literature Review

  • Critical synthesis of relevant studies
  • Demonstration of novelty
  • Use recent references (last 5–10 years)
  • Cite reputable international journals
  • Use IEEE referencing style

2.5 Methodology

  • Research design
  • Participants/sample
  • Instruments and procedures
  • Data collection methods
  • Data analysis techniques
  • Ethical approval (if applicable)

2.6 Results

  • Clear and systematic presentation
  • Use tables and figures where appropriate
  • Avoid duplication between text and tables

2.7 Discussion

  • Interpretation of results
  • Comparison with previous studies

  • Implications (theoretical and practical)
  • Highlight novelty

2.8 Conclusion

  • Summary of findings
  • Limitations
  • Recommendations

2.9 Acknowledgments

  • Funding sources
  • Grant numbers

2.10 Author Contributions (CRediT Taxonomy)

Authors must specify contributions using the CRediT taxonomy, such as:

  • Conceptualization
  • Methodology
  • Data curation
  • Writing – original draft
  • Writing – review & editing

2.11 Data Availability Statement

Authors must state where data can be accessed:

  • Public repository (recommended)
  • Available upon request
  • Restricted (with justification)

2.12 Competing Interests

Authors must declare any conflicts of interest or state:

“The authors declare no competing interests.”

2.13 Generative AI Disclosure

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in manuscript preparation. AI tools may only be used for language improvement, not for generating scientific content.

  • Use IEEE citation style
  • Minimum 80% from reputable journals
  • Preferably from indexed international journals
    Published within the last 10 years
  • Include DOI where available

4. Formatting Guidelines

  • File format: MS Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Page size: A4
  • Font: Times New Roman 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1
  • Margins: 2.5 cm
  • Length: 4,000–7,000 words

5. Submission Checklist

Before submission, authors must ensure:

  • Manuscript follows structure
  • Title and abstract are clear
  • References follow IEEE style
  • Similarity index < 20%
  • Language is proofread
  • All authors approve submission

6. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo:

  • Initial editorial screening
  • Plagiarism check
  • Double-blind peer review (minimum two reviewers)
  • Final decision by Editor-in-Chief
