Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the science and social studies (IPAS) learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 108/II Perumnas through the implementation of the Take and Give learning model assisted by picture card media. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 25 students whose IPAS learning outcomes were below the minimum mastery criteria. Data were collected through teacher activity observation, student activity observation, and learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the average percentage of achievement indicators in each cycle. The findings showed an improvement in teacher activity from 74.13% (good category) in cycle I to 87.92% (very good category) in cycle II. Student activity also increased from 54.00% (poor category) in cycle I to 78.00% (good category) in cycle II. Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving mastery rose from 60.00% in cycle I to 88.00% in cycle II. Thus, the study concludes that the Take and Give learning model assisted by picture card media is effective in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes in elementary IPAS subjects.
