Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning process and outcomes of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) through the implementation of the Group Investigation model in grade V students of SD Negeri 027/II Sungai Arang. The research applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles of two meetings each. The subjects were 25 students, consisting of 12 boys and 13 girls. Data were collected through teacher activity observation, student activity observation, and IPAS achievement tests. Descriptive quantitative and qualitative analyses were used to assess improvements between cycles. The results revealed significant improvements in all aspects. Teacher activity increased from 67.50% (good) in cycle I to 86.50% (very good) in cycle II. Student activity rose from 56% (fair) in cycle I to 88.50% (very good) in cycle II. Moreover, students’ IPAS mastery improved from 40% in cycle I to 96% in cycle II. Therefore, the Group Investigation model is proven effective in enhancing both the learning process and student outcomes in IPAS. It can serve as an innovative alternative strategy to foster more active, collaborative, and meaningful learning.
