Pengaruh Smartphone Terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa

The use of smartphones in education today is inevitable, including at the elementary school level. Digital devices that were originally used only as a means of communication and entertainment have now entered the realm of education. This study aims to analyze the effect of smartphone use on the learning motivation of third-grade students at SDN No. 107/II Danau Buluh, Bungo Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The research sample consisted of 15 students selected through purposive sampling. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression techniques after undergoing prerequisite tests (normality, linearity, and homogeneity). The results showed that the average score for smartphone use was 67.45 with a standard deviation of 5.224, while the average learning motivation of students reached 84.25%, which is classified as “good.” Although the level of smartphone use was relatively high, the regression analysis results showed that smartphone use did not have a significant effect on student learning motivation (Sig. ? 0.05). This indicates that student motivation to learn is more influenced by other factors, such as teacher support, parental supervision, and the learning environment. Smartphones can provide positive benefits when used appropriately, but excessive use has the potential to reduce concentration and learning effectiveness. The implication of this study is the importance of supervision and guidance from teachers and parents in the use of smartphones, so that these digital devices can function as a learning medium that supports an increase in student motivation to learn, rather than causing negative effects.
