Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student engagement in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in grade IV of SD Negeri 36/II Sarana Jaya, as indicated by learning outcomes below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). The research aimed to improve both the learning process and outcomes of IPAS through the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. The method employed was classroom action research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 20 fourth-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection instruments included observation sheets for learning activities and achievement tests. The results revealed a significant improvement in both process and outcomes. In the first cycle, the learning mastery reached only 60%, whereas in the second cycle it increased to 85%, surpassing the success indicator of 75%. Furthermore, students became more active in asking questions, engaging in discussions, and connecting the learning material with real-life contexts. Therefore, the implementation of the CTL model proved effective in fostering meaningful and enjoyable IPAS learning while also promoting critical thinking skills.
