Pengaruh Metode Storytelling terhadap Keterampilan Berbicara Bahasa Indonesia Siswa Kelas VI

The main problem in this study was the low speaking skills of sixth-grade students at SDN 128/II Pasir Putih in Indonesian language learning, as indicated by the lack of fluency, intonation, confidence, and clarity of articulation in communication. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the storytelling method in improving students’ speaking skills. The research employed an experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 5 sixth-grade students selected purposively. Research instruments included a speaking skill test and observation sheets. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ performance, with the average pre-test score increasing from 57 to 82 in the post-test, and 100% of students achieving mastery learning. These findings imply that the storytelling method is effective in addressing the problem of low speaking skills, as it enhances confidence, fluency, and motivation to perform in front of the class. The impact of this method is that Indonesian language learning becomes more interactive, enjoyable, and aligned with the development of 21st-century communication skills. This study confirms that storytelling can be applied as an innovative instructional strategy for elementary school teachers, with potential to be extended to broader educational levels and contexts.
