Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning processes and outcomes through the application of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) cooperative learning model. The study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 36 fifth-grade students at SDN 112/II Purwo Bakti during the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observations of teacher performance, student activities, and learning outcome tests in each cycle, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the study indicate that the application of the TSTS model can improve the quality of learning. Teacher performance improved from an average of 67.5% in Cycle I to 82.5% in Cycle II. Student learning processes also showed improvement from 38.88% in Cycle I Session I to 91.66% in Cycle II Session II. Meanwhile, student learning outcomes improved from an average of 63.33% with a completion rate of 36.11% before the intervention to 64.25% with a completion rate of 61.11% in Cycle I, and further improved to 77.81% with a completion rate of 80.56% in Cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model is effective in improving students' mathematics learning processes and outcomes. This model can be used as an alternative learning strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools.
